Crystallization Screening & Optimization

Getting crystals of macromolecular structures can be painstaking and time-consuming. Our mosquito nanoliter drop dispenser allows rapid screening of hundreds and thousands of conditions in volume as small as 100-200 nl for each drop and with as little as 1-2 mg protein. The automatic imaging system is used to timely spot any crystal hits. In addition, the UV images can help to differentiate protein crystals from salt or ligand crystals, preventing us from chasing in wrong directions. Once initial crystallization hits have been identified, a number of optimization approaches are usually employed to produce stable high-quality single crystals for high resolution data collection.
